# Coupons, Gifts, and Business Offers

> Using an Avox coupon code at checkout, automatic discounts, free codes, accepting a gifted plan, claiming offers in Settings > Offers, and accepting a custom business offer.

Source: https://docs.theavoxai.com/billing/coupons-and-gifts

There are three ways to get a plan for less than its regular price:

- a **coupon code** you enter at checkout, or one applied for you automatically,
- a **gift** - a plan the Avox team sends to your email address with a personal code,
- a **business offer** - a custom plan made for your company, sent as a private link.

The Avox team can also send you **offers** straight to your dashboard - a code, a gifted plan, free
automation credits, a higher limit, or a perk. They're all in one place: see
[Offers in your dashboard](#offers-in-your-dashboard).

## Using a coupon code

**1. Go to checkout**

Pick a plan on [avox.com/pricing](https://avox.com/pricing) and continue to the **Checkout** step.

**2. Click Have a coupon?**

It's in the **Checkout summary**, under the billing option.

**3. Enter the code and click Apply**

Codes are letters, numbers, dashes, and underscores, up to 32 characters. Spaces are removed and
letters are made capitals as you type, so case doesn't matter.

**4. Check the new total**

The summary shows the code as applied, then **Subtotal**, **Discount** with the code, and
**Total today**, plus what you pay once the discount ends.

A shared link can carry a code too - for example `avox.com/checkout?plan=growth&coupon=CODE`. The code
is checked the same way before any price changes.

You can use **one code per purchase**. To take a code off, click the X on it; the **Have a coupon?**
field comes back so you can enter another. When a discount was applied automatically, you can also
click **Have a different code?** to replace it with your own.

### How long a discount lasts

The line under the code says exactly what you get:

| Discount | Example wording | What happens after |
| --- | --- | --- |
| First payment only | "20% off your first month" | "Then" the regular price "/month after that". |
| A number of months | "$10 off for 3 months" | The discounted price "/month for 3 months, then" the regular price "/month after that". |
| For as long as you keep the plan | "20% off every month" | The discount never ends while you stay on that plan. |
| One-time (a year upfront) | "20% off the one-time payment" | Applies once, to the single upfront payment. |

A coupon applies **on top of** the billing option's own price - so on Yearly it's taken off the
already-discounted Yearly payment. After a discount ends, PayPal charges the plan's regular price for your
billing option automatically. Every amount is a whole number.

> **Note**
>
> A coupon belongs to the plan you bought with it. If you later [change plan](https://docs.theavoxai.com/billing/change-plan), the
> new plan is billed at its regular price.

### Free codes

When a code covers the whole price (for example "Free for 3 months" or "A year free"), there's nothing to
pay and **no PayPal step**:

- The summary says "Nothing to pay and no card needed - your plan switches on as soon as you confirm."
- The button reads **Activate** followed by the plan name and a zero price.
- Your plan starts straight away, and you get a **Coupon or gift applied** email instead of a payment
receipt, saying which code you used and the last day it covers. A $0 invoice is added to your
[Invoices](https://docs.theavoxai.com/billing/invoices), and the payment history shows "Plan added by Avox".
- A free code covers a month for each free monthly payment, or a whole year on One-time.
- For a limited free period, the summary says "Your plan runs for" that many months; "renew it from your
dashboard after that." Before it ends, each Admin gets **Plan ending soon** emails (7 days and 1 day
before) and a **Plan ended** email when it does.

A 100% discount on only the first payment(s) of a subscription (for example "First month free") works
like a free trial instead: PayPal still sets up the subscription now, charges nothing for the free
months, then the regular price.

Codes have no cash value and can't be exchanged for a refund. If you're refunded for a purchase made with
a code, the refund is for the amount you actually paid.

### Automatic discounts

Some discounts apply by themselves when you're eligible. The summary shows the code with "applied
automatically". If more than one applies, you get the one that takes the most off today. You can still
replace it with a code of your own.

### Why a code might not work

Checkout tells you exactly why:

| Message | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| We couldn't find that code. Check the spelling and try again. | The code doesn't exist. |
| This code expired on a date. / This code starts on a date. / This code isn't active yet. | Outside the dates it works. |
| This code is paused right now. / This code is no longer available. | The code has been switched off. |
| This code doesn't apply to this plan. | It's for other plans. |
| This code only works with monthly, yearly, or one-time billing. | Switch to the billing option it names. |
| This code needs an order of at least a set amount. | The order is below its minimum. |
| This code has reached its usage limit. / You've already used this code. | No uses left, overall or for you. |
| This code is only for your first purchase. | You've paid for a plan before. |
| This code isn't available in your billing country. | It's limited to certain countries. |
| This code is for newer accounts. / This code is for accounts created in the last N days. / This code is for accounts created before a certain date. | It depends on when you signed up. |
| Your account isn't eligible for this code. | Another condition on the code isn't met. |
| Sign in with the account this code was made for to use it. / This code was made for a different account. | It's a personal code for someone else. |
| Codes can't be combined with a custom business offer. | Business offers have their own price. |
| There's nothing to discount on this plan. | The plan has no price to take a discount from. |
| Too many attempts - wait a minute and try again. | Lots of codes were tried in a short time. |

> **Tip**
>
> Applying a code holds one use of it for you for 30 minutes while you finish checkout. If you leave
> without paying, the hold is released and the use goes back.

Only an **Admin** of your billing Switchboard can check out with a code. Coupons are for new purchases -
if you already have a live plan, use [Change plan](https://docs.theavoxai.com/billing/change-plan) instead.

## Gifts

A gift is a plan the Avox team sends to one person.

### The gift email

You get a **Plan gift** email ("A gift for you" with the plan's name) showing what the gift is, your
personal one-time code, any personal message, and an **Accept your gift** button. Under "Prefer to do it
yourself?" it lists the manual steps for entering the code yourself, and it says the last day you can
use it. The code works once, and only for your account - don't share it.

### Accepting a gift

**1. Open the link**

The gift page says "You've been gifted the" plan, shows what's included (WhatsApp numbers,
Switchboards, templates, Flows, automations, and Avox AI credits), what it's worth, and how long
it's still **Open for**.

**2. Sign in with the address it was sent to**

The page shows the address with part of it hidden. If you're signed in as someone else, it says the
gift "is for someone else" - click **Sign out and switch account** and sign in with that address.
You can also create your account with it.

**3. Click Accept your gift**

You're taken to checkout with the gift already applied ("Your gift is applied").

**4. Confirm at checkout**

A fully free gift needs no payment - confirm your details and activate. A partial gift finishes in
PayPal at the discounted price.

If you accept but don't finish, the page later says "Your gift is waiting" with **Continue to checkout**.
Once your gifted plan is active, the link shows "is all yours" with **Open your dashboard**.

### Gift rules

- A gift is for **one person** and can be used **once**.
- It must be accepted while signed in with the address it was sent to.
- It can expire - the page then says "This gift has expired" with the last day it was open.
- The Avox team can withdraw a gift - the page then says "This gift was withdrawn".

## Offers in your dashboard

Offers from the Avox team land in your dashboard first - a thank-you, a perk, or a deal. Several
offers sent together form a **bundle** (for example "a gift plan plus free credits").

### What an offer can be

| Offer | What you do | What happens |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **A personal code** | **Copy** the code, or click **Use at checkout**. | Checkout opens with the code filled in. "Your personal code. It's applied when you pay." |
| **A gifted plan** | Click **Accept gift**. | The gift page opens - see [Accepting a gift](#accepting-a-gift). "Accept it to start the plan. No payment needed." |
| **Free credits** | Click **Claim credits**. | The [automation credits](https://docs.theavoxai.com/automation/credits) are added to the Switchboard the offer was made for. |
| **A limit boost** | Click **Claim boost**. | One of your plan's limits goes up for that Switchboard - for the number of days shown, or with no end date. |
| **A perk** | Click **Request it**. | "Requested. Our team will email you to set it up." |

Each offer shows when it ends: "Ends in 5 days", "Ends in 3 hours", or "Works until" a date. After
its end date an offer is gone, so use it in time.

### The gift button and the offers window

While you have an offer you can still use, a **gift button** sits in the dashboard header, just
before the notification bell. It counts down to the offer that ends first (it turns amber in the
last 24 hours), or shows how many offers you have when none of them has an end date. Click it to open
the **offers window**.

A new offer also opens the offers window by itself, once per browser session, so you see it. It
never interrupts you in the middle of something: setup wizards, sign-in steps, the template, Flow and
automation builders, checkout pages and the Delete account page stay quiet.

In the offers window:

- Each offer has its own slide with a picture, what it is, when it ends, and its button.
- A bundle opens on a summary, "Your bundle", listing everything in it. **Claim all** adds every
credit, boost and perk in one go. Codes and gifts need their own step, so they follow on the next
 slides.
- **Maybe later** closes the window and stops those offers popping up again. They keep working
until they end, and they stay in **Settings > Offers**.

### Settings > Offers

**Settings > Offers** (under **Account** in the settings menu) lists every offer you can still use,
grouped by bundle, each with its code, end date and button, plus **Claim all** for a bundle. At the
top, a summary says how many offers you have and when the first one ends.

Below them, **Used and past offers** keeps a record of what you've claimed, used or let run out,
newest first:

| Label | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| **Claimed** | Credits or a boost were added. |
| **Used** / **Accepted** | A code was used at checkout, or a gifted plan was accepted. |
| **Requested** / **Done** | Our team is setting up a perk, or has finished it. |
| **Withdrawn** | The Avox team withdrew the offer. |
| **Ended** | The offer reached its end date unused. |

With nothing open, the page reads **No offers right now** - "When we have something for you, a
thank-you, a perk or a deal, it lands here first." The **Your offers** card on
[Billing](https://docs.theavoxai.com/billing#offers-and-discounts) shows your codes, gifts and perks too, with **See all offers**.

### Who can claim

- **Codes, gifts and perks** are yours: whoever the offer was sent to can use them.
- **Credits and limit boosts** are added to a Switchboard, so claiming them needs the **See billing**
permission there (Admins always have it). Without it you see "Ask an Admin to claim this. Only
people who can see billing can add it to the Switchboard."

If a claim doesn't go through, the reason shows under the button - for example "This offer has
ended.", "You've already claimed this one." or "Avox withdrew this offer.". For anything else,
contact [Support](https://docs.theavoxai.com/support).

## Business offers

For larger teams, the Avox team can put together a custom plan with its own price and limits and send it
as a private link to `avox.com/offer/...`.

**1. Open the offer**

It's titled "A plan made for" your company and lists what's included and how it's billed - monthly,
or a full year paid once.

**2. Sign in with your invited email**

Use the address the offer was sent to, or create your account with it. If you're signed in with a
different address, click **Sign out and switch account**.

**3. Agree and accept**

Tick the box to agree to the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Cancellation & Refund Policy,
then click **Accept and continue**.

**4. Pay**

For a PayPal offer ("Start your subscription" or "Pay for the year"), checkout opens with the offer
applied. If the offer is paid by invoice ("Pay by invoice"), accepting is enough - the page says
"Offer accepted", and your plan starts the moment the Avox team marks it paid. If your payment was
already received, the button reads **Accept and go live**.

If your account already has a PayPal subscription, the page says "You already have a subscription" with
**Contact Avox**, so the Avox team can switch you over without billing you twice.

A one-time business plan is billed in US dollars as one payment for the year. Coupons can't be added to a
business offer. Offers are open for a limited time - an expired one says "This offer has expired" (ask for
a fresh link), and a withdrawn one says "This offer was withdrawn". You may get a **Business offer -
expiry reminder** email when an unaccepted offer has 3 days or less left, and a **Business plan active**
email once your plan is live.
