# Broadcast Report and Recipients

> Every number on a broadcast's report and what it's based on: sent, delivered, read, replies, STOP, taps, clicks, conversions, failures, cost and quality, plus the recipients list and CSV.

Source: https://docs.theavoxai.com/broadcasts/report

Once a [broadcast](https://docs.theavoxai.com/broadcasts) starts sending, its page has three tabs: **Report** for the numbers,
**Recipients** for who got it, and **What was confirmed** for the check you saw before sending. While
it's scheduled, sending or paused, the page refreshes every few seconds.

> **Note**
>
> The report counts things. It never shows what anyone wrote, and names appear only on the
> **Recipients** tab, for people who can see contacts.

## The report

### Sent, delivered, read, replied, failed

The five figures at the top, each with its share:

| Figure | What it counts | Share of |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Sent** | Messages WhatsApp accepted from your number. Delivered and read ones are included. | The messages Avox tried to send |
| **Delivered** | Messages WhatsApp says reached the person's phone. | Sent |
| **Read** | Messages WhatsApp says were opened. People who turned off read receipts never show as read, so this can be lower than the truth. | Sent |
| **Replied** | People who messaged you within 3 days of their broadcast, or replied to it directly. | Sent |
| **Failed** | Messages that couldn't be sent or delivered. See [Why some failed](#why-some-failed). | The messages Avox tried to send |

Delivered and read come from WhatsApp's own updates, so they can keep rising for a few days after
sending ends. A reply counts towards the latest broadcast the person got in the 3 days before it.

### After the broadcast

| Figure | What it counts |
| --- | --- |
| **Asked to stop within 7 days** | People who got the [Unsubscribed tag](https://docs.theavoxai.com/contacts/unsubscribe) within 7 days of their message, for example by replying STOP. Watch this one: a high number means the list or the message missed. |
| **Button taps** | Taps on the template's quick reply buttons, all together. The **Button taps** card lists each button. |
| **Chats through the smart link** | Shown when you picked a smart link on the **Extras** step. See below. |
| **Converted within N days** | Shown when you picked a conversion tag. See below. |

### Clicks and conversions

Both are optional, on the wizard's **Extras** step:

- **Count clicks with a smart link.** If the message points people to one of your
[smart links](https://docs.theavoxai.com/chat-links) (in a button or the text), pick it here. Someone who got the broadcast and
then started a chat through that link within 7 days counts as a click.
- **Count conversions.** Pick a **Tag**, like Paid or Booked, and **Within (days)**, from 1 to 90 (7 to
start with). Someone who got the broadcast counts as converted when they get that tag within that many
days, whether a teammate adds it in the [Inbox](https://docs.theavoxai.com/inbox) or an automation does.

With neither picked, the report shows "No smart link picked" and "No conversion tag picked".

### Delivery over time

A chart of sent, delivered, read, failed and replied, hour by hour, for the first 14 days after the
broadcast started.

### Why some failed

Each reason a message failed, with how many and what it means in plain words. The common ones:

| Reason | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| **Couldn't be delivered** | The number isn't on WhatsApp, or the person's app is too old or can't receive messages right now. |
| **Held back by WhatsApp** | WhatsApp limits how many marketing messages one person gets from all businesses. This person had enough for now. |
| **Stopped marketing messages** | The person told WhatsApp they don't want marketing messages from businesses. Avox skips them in later broadcasts. |
| **Media couldn't be loaded** | The header file couldn't be downloaded. Check that its link opens for anyone. |
| **Sending too fast** | WhatsApp's speed limit was reached. Avox slows down, and pauses if it keeps happening. |
| **Spam limit reached**, **Account locked**, **Payment problem**, **Temporarily blocked** | A problem with your number or Meta account. Avox [pauses the broadcast](https://docs.theavoxai.com/broadcasts#automatic-pauses). |
| **Template paused**, **Template disabled**, **Variables don't match**, **Text too long** | A problem with the template or its values. Avox pauses the broadcast. |
| **WhatsApp had a problem**, **WhatsApp was unavailable** | Something went wrong on WhatsApp's side. |
| **The send was interrupted, so it may or may not have gone out** | Avox didn't get an answer from WhatsApp. It's never sent twice, so the person gets at most one message. |

Under the failures, **Left out before sending** lists the [skipped contacts](https://docs.theavoxai.com/broadcasts#who-is-skipped)
by reason.

### Countries

For each country: the people, and the share delivered and read, and how many failed.

### Cost

- **Estimated before sending**: the estimate from the check you confirmed.
- **So far, from what Meta reported**: the messages Meta marked as charged on their delivery updates,
times the Marketing rate per message Avox uses.

Under them: how many messages were charged, how many were free and how many Meta hasn't reported yet.
Meta bills your Meta account directly, and its own invoice is the final word. See
[Meta charges](https://docs.theavoxai.com/billing#meta-charges-and-payment-problems).

### Your number's quality

The number's quality **Before sending** and the **Latest**, with its daily reach. Quality comes from
Meta and can take a while to change, so check it again a day or two later. If it drops while sending,
Avox [pauses the broadcast](https://docs.theavoxai.com/broadcasts#automatic-pauses).

## Recipients

The **Recipients** tab lists everyone on the broadcast's list, a page at a time (**Show more** for the
next). Each row shows:

- the contact's name and the last 4 digits of their number, for people with **See contacts**;
- the country and the time of the latest update;
- what happened after: replied, the button they tapped, clicked, converted, asked to stop;
- why they were left out, or why it failed, in plain words;
- the state: **Waiting**, **Sending**, **Sent**, **Delivered**, **Read**, **Failed** or **Left out**.

**Show** filters the list: **Everyone**, **Waiting**, **Sent**, **Delivered**, **Read**, **Replied**,
**Clicked**, **Converted**, **Asked to stop**, **Failed** or **Left out**.

### Download CSV

**Download CSV** downloads the list as it's filtered, up to 100,000 rows. The file has the country, the
state, why they were left out, the error, and the time of each step (sent, delivered, read, failed,
replied, button tapped, clicked, asked to stop, converted). With **See contacts**, it starts with the
name and the last 4 digits of the number; full numbers are never in the file. Each download is
recorded in your [activity log](https://docs.theavoxai.com/logs).

### How long it's kept

The recipients list (who it went to and what happened to each message) is kept for **13 months after
the broadcast finishes** (completed or stopped), then removed for good, along with what can be
downloaded. The **Report** stays as it was: its totals, chart, countries, failures, taps and cost are
kept with the broadcast, so they never shrink.

## What was confirmed

The **What was confirmed** tab shows the [permission sentence](https://docs.theavoxai.com/broadcasts/before-you-send#the-permission-sentence)
that was ticked, who ticked it ("you" or "a team member") and when, and the numbers from the check at
that moment: who it was going to, who was left out and why, the estimated cost, the rate per message,
your number's quality and its daily reach.

## Reading the numbers

- **Many failures marked "Couldn't be delivered"?** The list has old or wrong numbers. Send to people
  who messaged you more recently.
- **Low read, but delivered is high?** Try a different time of day, or a first line that says what's in
  it for them.
- **Asked to stop is climbing?** Send less often, to a narrower list, about what they signed up for.
- **Replies but no conversions?** The broadcast did its job; the conversation after it is the place to
look. [Chat signals](https://docs.theavoxai.com/chat-signals) can flag the chats that need a quick answer.
