# Sign In to Avox with Facebook

> Sign in to Avox with Facebook, connect or disconnect it in Settings, and what happens when you ask Facebook to delete your Avox data.

Source: https://docs.theavoxai.com/integrations/facebook-sign-in

You can create an Avox account and sign in with your **Facebook** account instead of a password.
Facebook confirms who you are and Avox never sees your Facebook password.

Signing in to Avox with Facebook is separate from connecting a WhatsApp number. Connecting a number
also uses your Facebook account, inside Meta's [Embedded Signup](https://docs.theavoxai.com/integrations/embedded-signup)
window - you can do either without the other.

## Requirements

- A Facebook account.
- A browser that lets avox.com send you to Facebook's sign-in page and back.

## Signing up or signing in

**1. Open sign-in or sign-up**

Go to **Sign in** or **Create your account** on avox.com.

**2. Click Facebook**

The button above the email form. It shows "Opening Facebook sign-in" while it loads.

**3. Continue as yourself**

Approve on Facebook's sign-in page.

**4. You're in**

A first-time sign-in creates your account. Avox takes you to your dashboard (from **Create your account**, to the onboarding questions first), or back to the page that sent you to sign in.

Continuing with Facebook means you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, as the sign-in page
says under the buttons.

## Adding or removing Facebook

- **Add:** **Settings > Profile > Connected accounts**, click **Connect** on the **Facebook** row and
approve. The row shows **Connected**, and you get the email "Facebook sign-in was added to your
  Avox account".
- **Remove:** click **Disconnect**. You'll see "Account disconnected" and get "Facebook sign-in was
removed from your Avox account". **Disconnect** is available when you have another way to sign in,
such as a password or Google; otherwise it shows "Connect another sign-in method first".

See [Profile](https://docs.theavoxai.com/settings/profile).

## Check it's working

- **Connected accounts** shows **Facebook: Connected**.
- Sign out, then sign in again with the **Facebook** button.

## Common errors

| You see | Fix |
| --- | --- |
| "Sign-in didn't complete. Please try again." | The Facebook sign-in was cancelled or interrupted. Try again. |
| "That sign-in link has expired or was already used. Please sign in again." | Start again from the sign-in page. |
| [AVX-3095](https://docs.theavoxai.com/error-codes/avx-3095) - couldn't connect that account | Try again from **Connected accounts**. |
| [AVX-3096](https://docs.theavoxai.com/error-codes/avx-3096) - couldn't disconnect that account | Try again, with another sign-in method set up first. |

## Removing Avox from Facebook (data deletion requests)

If you remove Avox from your Facebook account's apps and ask for your data to be deleted, Facebook
sends Avox a deletion request and gives you a **confirmation code**. Avox then acts on it:

| Your situation | What Avox does |
| --- | --- |
| Facebook is your only way to sign in, and no plan is being billed through PayPal | Deletes your Avox account, Switchboards that only you used, and the WhatsApp numbers in Switchboards where you're an Admin. |
| You have another way to sign in, or a plan is still being billed through PayPal | Removes Facebook sign-in from your account and disconnects the WhatsApp numbers in Switchboards where you're an Admin. Your account stays, and you sign in the other ways you set up. (To stop a plan that's still billing, cancel it yourself - see [Cancel](https://docs.theavoxai.com/billing/cancel).) |
| No Avox account uses that Facebook login | Nothing to delete - the request is marked **No data found**. |

You receive the email "Your Facebook data deletion request is complete". Billing records Avox must
keep by law are kept, separately from your login.

### Checking a request

Open the deletion status page on avox.com (avox.com/data-deletion-status) with your confirmation
code - Meta shows it to you, and it's in the email. It shows **We're deleting your data**, **Your data
has been deleted** or **No data found**. Requests are always finished within 30 days, usually much sooner. See
[Data deletion](https://docs.theavoxai.com/data-deletion).

## Security

- **Two-factor authentication still applies** after Facebook sign-in. See
  [Two-factor](https://docs.theavoxai.com/security/two-factor).
- **New-device alerts** are emailed when you sign in from a device you haven't used recently. See
  [Sessions](https://docs.theavoxai.com/security/sessions).
- **No password to change** on an account that only uses Facebook. Deleting such an account needs a
sign-in from the last 15 minutes.

## Build your own server for Facebook sign-in

Your own server isn't involved. Facebook sign-in and Meta's data deletion requests happen between Facebook and Avox - there's nothing to host or configure on your side.

## FAQ

**Is Facebook sign-in the same as connecting WhatsApp?**

No - they're separate. Signing in uses Facebook to open your Avox account. Connecting WhatsApp uses
Meta's Embedded Signup to share your WhatsApp Business Account with Avox.

**If I disconnect Facebook sign-in, are my WhatsApp numbers affected?**

Disconnecting in **Connected accounts** only removes that way of signing in. A data deletion
request sent from Facebook is different - see the table above.

**I lost access to my Facebook account. How do I sign in?**

Use another sign-in method you set up, such as a password or a passkey. If Facebook was your only one,
email hello@theavoxai.com from your account's email address.

**Can I use Facebook and Google together?**

Yes. Connect both in **Settings > Profile > Connected accounts**, and either works. Having more than
one way in also lets you disconnect one of them later.

**How long does a deletion request take?**

Avox always finishes within 30 days, usually much sooner. Check progress with your confirmation code
on the deletion status page on avox.com.

**Does Facebook sign-in skip two-factor authentication?**

No. If you've set up an authenticator, Avox asks for its code after Facebook sign-in too. See
[Two-factor](https://docs.theavoxai.com/security/two-factor).
