# Profile Settings

> Change your name and email address, connect Google or Facebook sign-in, and see the agreements you've accepted in Avox.

Source: https://docs.theavoxai.com/settings/profile

**Settings > Profile** is about you, not your Switchboard. Everything here applies to your own account
in every Switchboard you belong to. It has four cards: **Profile**, **Email address**,
**Connected accounts**, and **Agreements**.

## Your name

The **Profile** card shows your Avox Avatar - generated from your name, so it changes when your name
does - and your **Full name**.

**1. Edit Full name**

Up to 120 characters. It can't be empty ("Name can't be empty").

**2. Click Save changes**

The button only becomes active once the name has changed. You see "Profile updated".

Your name is what teammates see in **Members**, the **Activity** log, and invite emails you send. If saving fails, you see [AVX-3004](https://docs.theavoxai.com/error-codes/avx-3004).

## Changing your email address

The address you sign in with, and where all your account emails go. The **Email address** card says:
"Changing this sends a confirmation link to both your current and new address - the change only takes
effect once you confirm."

**1. Type the new address in Email**

Up to 254 characters. It must be a valid email address ("Enter a valid email address").

**2. Click Change email**

The button only becomes active once the address has changed. You see "Check both your old and new
inbox to confirm the change".

**3. Confirm from both inboxes**

Your **new** address gets **Email change - confirm new address**, and your **current** address gets
**Email change - approve from old address**. Each has a 6-digit code and a link.

**4. Done**

Once confirmed, you sign in with the new address. Your old address gets an
**Email address changed** notice.

Until you confirm, nothing changes - you keep signing in with your current address. Asking both inboxes
means someone using a signed-in browser of yours can't quietly move your account to an address they
control. If the request can't be started you see [AVX-3094](https://docs.theavoxai.com/error-codes/avx-3094).

> **Note**
>
> Switchboard invites and gifts are tied to an email address. If you change your address, an invite or
> gift sent to the old one must be accepted from an account using that old address.

## Connected accounts

Connect **Google** or **Facebook** to sign in with one click instead of a password. Each row shows
**Connected** or **Not connected**.

- **Connect** - takes you to Google or Facebook to approve, then back to **Settings > Profile**. You get
a **Sign-in method added or removed** email.
- **Disconnect** - removes that sign-in method straight away ("Account disconnected").

You always need at least one way to sign in. While a provider is your only sign-in method, its
**Disconnect** button is disabled with the hint "Connect another sign-in method first". An account that
signs in with an email and password always has that as a second way in.

Errors: [AVX-3095](https://docs.theavoxai.com/error-codes/avx-3095) (couldn't connect), [AVX-3096](https://docs.theavoxai.com/error-codes/avx-3096)
(couldn't disconnect).

> **Tip**
>
> Facebook sign-in matters for data deletion: if you remove Avox from your Facebook settings, Meta asks
> Avox to delete the data linked to that Facebook login. See [Data deletion](https://docs.theavoxai.com/data-deletion).

## Agreements

A read-only list of the policies you've agreed to, each one listed once:

- the document - **Terms of Service**, **Privacy Policy**, **Cancellation & Refund Policy**,
**Cookie Policy**, or **Data Processing Agreement** - linked to its current version on avox.com,
- the latest version you agreed to and the date,
- where you agreed: "when you signed up", "at checkout", "when you accepted a business offer", "when
you joined a Switchboard", "when you connected WhatsApp", or "after we emailed you about an update".

You agree to the same policy in several places (signing up, each checkout, each number you connect…),
and each of those is kept as its own record. **History** next to a policy opens all of them, newest
first: whether you agreed, the version, where, how (**Ticked a box**, **Clicked through**, **Cookie
banner**, or **Update notice (continued use)**), the date and time, and a partly hidden IP address. For
the Cookie Policy it shows the choice you made in the cookie banner while signed in.

When a policy you agreed to gets a new version, you're told in the dashboard and by email, and a record
of that notice is added here. See [When a policy changes](https://docs.theavoxai.com/compliance#when-a-policy-changes).

With nothing yet, it says "Nothing recorded yet." The **Cookie settings** link under the list reopens the
cookie banner so you can change your cookie choice. See [Cookie choices](https://docs.theavoxai.com/compliance#cookie-choices).
