What a Switchboard is, and every tab of Settings > Switchboard: General, Workspaces, Members, Invitations, and Activity.
A Switchboard is a workspace. It has its own WhatsApp connections, contacts, conversations, templates, Flows, automations, and team. You can belong to several - an agency running numbers for a few clients, for example, keeps each client in its own Switchboard - and switch between them at any time.
Everything about the Switchboard you're viewing lives in Settings > Switchboard. The page has five tabs: General, Workspaces, Members, Invitations, and (for Admins) Activity.
Your plan's WhatsApp connections are one shared pool across every Switchboard where you're an Admin. Templates, Flows, and automations are different: each Switchboard gets its own allowance. The live numbers for each plan are on Plans.
Every member is an Admin or a Manager, and the Switchboard's first Admin is its Owner. Admins run the Switchboard; Managers do the day-to-day work. An Admin can also give a Manager extra permissions, or take some away, one person at a time. The full, area-by-area list is on Members and roles.
The Switchboard's identity and the actions that affect the whole workspace. It opens with an overview card: the Switchboard's logo and name, your role, its Plan (or "Covered by the owner's plan"), when it was Created, how many Members it has, and its WhatsApp numbers (how many are connected). Below it, the Name and logo card ("How this Switchboard shows up in the switcher and to your team") and, under Pause or delete, the pause and delete cards.
The name your WhatsApp customers see is your business name in Business and the display name approved by Meta - not the Switchboard name.
Errors: AVX-2003 (name not valid), AVX-2004 (couldn't save), AVX-2005 (logo didn't upload). Managers see the same fields, but only an Admin can save them - a Manager who clicks Save changes sees "Couldn't save your Switchboard" (AVX-2004).
Want a break without losing anything? Admins can pause the whole Switchboard from the Pause this Switchboard card:
Click Pause Switchboard
The card lists what happens: every connected WhatsApp number is paused (nothing is sent or forwarded from them), every running automation is paused, and contacts, messages, templates, Flows, and settings are all kept.
Click Email me a code to pause
Enter the 6-digit code we email you. It works once, for 10 minutes.
The card then shows Paused and the date. Click Resume any time to put back exactly what was running. If your plan has no room for every number by then, the extra ones stay paused and you can resume them from Connections once there's room. While the Switchboard is paused, its numbers can't be resumed one at a time. Every member sees whether it's paused; only an Admin can pause or resume it. Both are recorded in Activity.
While a Switchboard is paused:
switchboard_paused.Pausing your whole account from Settings > Security > Delete account pauses every Switchboard you're an Admin of in the same way - see Pausing instead.
Admins delete a Switchboard right on the Delete this Switchboard card, not in a pop-up. It first lists what will be deleted - its WhatsApp numbers and message history, contacts, templates, Flows, automations, members' access, API keys, invoices, and any subscription billed here - immediately and with no recovery window.
Type the Switchboard's name
Type the name exactly as shown, including capital letters, then click Email me a code.
Enter the code
Enter the 6-digit code we email you. It works once, for 10 minutes. Send a new code if it doesn't arrive.
Hold to delete
Press and hold Hold to delete for 2 seconds while the ring fills (on a keyboard, hold Space or Enter). Let go early to cancel. If your device is set to reduce motion, click it once, wait 2 seconds, then click again to confirm. The Switchboard is deleted and you're taken back to the dashboard home.
Avox refuses the delete in two cases, so a plan or a person is never left stranded:
What's removed and what's kept is covered on Data deletion.
On a plan paid as One-time (a full year upfront), Admins also see an Automation credit limit card under General. It sets a monthly cap on how many automation credits this Switchboard can spend - a budget guard below what the plan grants, not a billing setting.
If saving fails you see AVX-3081. More on how credits work: Automation.
Your Switchboards lists every Switchboard you belong to, with its logo and name.
Everyone with access, their Joined date, and their Role. Admins can remove anyone except themselves, and change anyone's role between Admin and Manager from the Role menu (with a confirm step - the only Admin can't step down). Admins open a member's Permissions to change what a Manager can do. Nobody can change their own access: on your own row it's Your access, which you can look at but not change ("You can't change your own access"). Managers can't open anyone's permissions. See Members and roles and Changing someone's role.
Every invite sent for this Switchboard and its status - pending, accepted, revoked, or expired. Admins see Invite and can Revoke a pending invite. See Invites.
Admins only: the 50 most recent team and settings actions on this Switchboard, filterable by member. See The Activity log.
Most pages - Inbox, Contacts, Templates, Compliance, and so on - show the Switchboard you're currently viewing. Billing is the exception: your plan lives on the first Switchboard you joined and covers every Switchboard where you're an Admin, so Billing shows the same plan whichever Switchboard is open. See Billing.
